This skill set reflects the skill requirements for providing person centred support to people with disability in various settings.
It cover a range of topics, including:
- Understanding disability and the social model of disability
- Developing and implementing person-centred support plans
- Supporting individuals with complex needs and behaviours of concern
- Promoting social inclusion and community participation
- Providing support for personal care needs
- Facilitating empowerment and self-determination for people with disabilities.
Upon completion of the CHCSS00130 – Individual Support – Disability, learners may be eligible to work in a range of roles in the disability support sector, including as disability support workers, personal care assistants, or community access workers.

Target Group
This skill set is for individuals who hold a qualification at Certificate III level or higher in Community Services, Health or a related field, work in various care and support roles and who wish to develop skills in providing person-centred support to people with disability.
Students must satisfy the following age, English, and Academic requirements:
- Age: must be 17 years or over
- Undertake Pre-Training Review
- Achieve satisfactory result of LLN assessment: Learning, reading, writing, oral communication, and numeracy (ACSF Level 3) are desirable to participate in the course.
- Moderate level of digital literacy and has access to a computer with internet access.

Delivery methods:
The range of delivery methods may include, but not limited to the following:
- lectures / Instructions
- pre-reading
- demonstrations and modelling
- practice opportunities
- brainstorming activities
- group discussions
- guided facilitation of individual or group learning activities, group work or project-based case studies
Delivery Structure:
- The delivery structure is comprised of classroom training sessions, structured learning such as training support, learning activities, self-paced (to allow the learners to absorb and reflect on their learning), workshops and work placement.
- The unit of competency will be delivered and assessed as a stand-alone unit.

- Werribee (Suite 20, 2-14 Station Pl., Werribee 3030 VIC)

Additional locations may be allocated to meet a group of learner cohort’s needs and based on demand (if practicable for the RTO)
These units provide credit towards a range of qualifications in the CHC Community Services Training Package at Certificate III or Certificate IV level, including the CHC43115 – Certificate IV in Disability.

- Written Assignment & Case studies
- Projects / Research Reviews
All assessment will be conducted in accordance with the Training Package requirements, Principles of Assessment and Rules of Evidence (https://www.asqa.gov.au/standards/chapter-4/clauses-1.8-1.12)
Skills must have been demonstrated in the disabilities workplace with the addition of simulations and scenarios where the full range of contexts and situations have not been provided in the workplace.
To be eligible for the award of a Statement of Attainment for the CHCSS00130 – Individual Support – Disability, participants must successfully complete four units comprising:
•          four (4) Core units
Where the full course is not completed, a Statement of Attainment will be issued for any completed unit/s.
