Admission & Entry Requirements

Students must satisfy the following age, English, and Academic requirements:

  • Age: must be 17 years or over
  • Undertake Pre-Training Review
  • Undertake LLN and digital numeracy assessment: Learning, reading, writing, oral communication, and numeracy (ACSF Level 3) are desirable to participate in the course.
  • Moderate level of computer literacy and has access to a computer/laptop/tablet/smartphone with internet access

Practical Placement Requirement

Students pursuing the CHC43215 Certificate IV in Alcohol and Other Drugs are required to complete an 80-hour work placement at an Australian organization specializing in alcohol and drug counselling. This placement provides essential practical experience to prepare them for future careers.

Unit of Competency

To be eligible for the award of a Statement of Attainment for the CHC43215 Certificate IV in Alcohol and Other Drugs, participants must successfully complete:

– 12 core units
– 5 elective units, consisting of:

  • CHCCCS004: Assess co-existing needs
  • CHCCCS014: Provide brief interventions
  • CHCCOM002: Use communication to build relationships
  • CHCDIV001: Work with diverse people
  • CHCLEG001: Work legally and ethically
  • CHCMHS001: Work with people with mental health issues
  • CHCPRP001: Develop and maintain networks and collaborative partnerships
  • HLTAID011: Provide First Aid

Elective Units:
