Course Overview
The CHCSS00125 Entry to Certificate IV in Disability Support skill set is a set of skills that contribute towards satisfying the entry requirements for the Certificate IV in Disability Support. Achievement of these units provides credit towards a range of qualifications in the CHC Community Services Training Package.
This skill set is designed for individuals who already hold a qualification at Certificate III level or higher in Community Services, Health or a related field, work in disability support roles, and wish to progress into the Certificate IV in Disability Support (CHC43121). It is delivered online with the flexibility to study at your own pace and the backing of experienced trainers throughout.
Completing this skill set opens the pathway into the Certificate IV in Disability Support and strengthens your practice across the disability and community services sector. It supports current and aspiring workers in roles such as:
- Disability Support Worker
- Community Support Worker
- Personal Care Assistant
- Residential Care Worker
- Direct support roles across home, community and residential care
Students must satisfy the following age, academic and prerequisite requirements:
- Be 17 years of age or over
- Hold a Certificate III level qualification (or higher) in Community Services, Health or a related field — for example CHC30408 Certificate III in Disability or CHC33021 Certificate III in Individual Support (Disability)
- Undertake a Pre-Training Review prior to enrolment
- Achieve a satisfactory result in an LLN assessment covering learning, reading, writing, oral communication and numeracy (ACSF Level 3 is desirable)
- Have a moderate level of digital literacy and access to a computer with reliable internet

Delivery Structure:
- The delivery structure is comprised of classroom training sessions, structured learning such as training support, learning activities, self-paced (to allow the learners to absorb and reflect on their learning), workshops, and work placement.
- The unit of competency will be delivered and assessed as a stand-alone unit.

These units provide credit towards a range of qualifications in the CHC Community Services Training Package. On completion — together with a Certificate III in Disability (CHC30408) — you meet the entry requirements for the CHC43121 Certificate IV in Disability Support, also delivered at Hammond Institute.

All assessments will be conducted in accordance with the Training Package requirements, Principles of Assessment, and Rules of Evidence (https://www.asqa.gov.au/standards/chapter-4/clauses-1.8-1.12)
This skill set does not require a mandatory vocational placement. However, some units may involve work-based or simulated assessment where skills are demonstrated in a disability support context. Learners already working or volunteering in the sector are well placed to gather the required evidence.
