Course Overview
CHC43415 Certificate IV in Leisure and Health reflects the role of workers participating in the design, implementation and evaluation of leisure, health activities and programs for clients in one or more sector areas. Workers may be in residential facilities and/or in community agencies and day centres, completing specialised tasks and functions in relation to leisure and health.

There are NO previous work or education requirements for entry into this course. Students may enroll directly in the Certificate IV level course without completing lower-ranked qualifications.

Students must satisfy the following age, English, and Academic requirements:
- Age: must be 17 years or over
- Undertake Pre-Training Review
- Undertake LLN and digital numeracy assessment: Learning, reading, writing, oral communication, and numeracy (ACSF Level 3) are desirable to participate in the course.
- Moderate level of computer literacy and has access to a computer/laptop/tablet/smartphone with internet access

Delivery methods:

Delivery Structure:
- The delivery structure is comprised of classroom training sessions, structured learning such as training support, learning activities, self-paced (to allow the learners to absorb and reflect on their learning), workshops, and work placement.
- The unit of competency will be delivered and assessed as a stand-alone unit.

All assessments will be conducted in accordance with the Training Package requirements, Principles of Assessment, and Rules of Evidence (https://www.asqa.gov.au/standards/chapter-4/clauses-1.8-1.12)
The purpose of the placement is to provide students with the opportunity to apply the theoretical knowledge gained in the classroom to a practical setting and to develop the necessary skills and attributes to work in the sector.
All students must complete a minimum of 120 hours of work placement in an accredited residential care facility for either aged care, disability or home and community organisation to be deemed competent for this qualification.
If a student is unable to find an appropriate work placement, Hammond Institute will assist in finding the work placement.
Able to obtain the following security checks prior to the start of work placement:
- Valid Police Checks (with no disclosures)
- Valid Working with the Children Check
It is important for students to remember that the placement component of the course is an integral part of their learning journey and will provide valuable experience and networking opportunities in the sector.
The CHC43415 Certificate IV in Leisure and Health requires 17 units of Competency.
