Smart and Skilled Program

Hammond Institute is an approved provider of the NSW Government’s Smart and Skilled Program.

The Smart and Skilled Program is a reform of the NSW vocational education and training system. It supports people to gain the skills and knowledge they need to get a job and advance their careers by offering qualifications on the NSW Skills List that are partially or fully subsidised for eligible students.

Eligibility

All training subsidised by the NSW Government Smart and Skilled Program is subject to students meeting eligibility requirements.

Students may be eligible for NSW Smart and Skilled subsidised training if they meet the following eligibility criteria:

  • The individual either lives or works in New South Wales
  • An Australian citizen, a permanent Australian resident, a humanitarian visa holder or a New Zealand citizen
  • Aged 15 years or older
  • No longer at school

Previous qualifications do not affect your eligibility.

If you have a Certificate IV or higher qualification you are still able to access subsidised Smart and Skilled training up to Certificate III level, providing you meet the personal eligibility criteria for Smart and Skilled. As you already have a post-school qualification, you will pay a higher fee for your Smart and Skilled training than someone who does not have any qualifications.

Eligibility requirements vary for some funding categories. Contact us for more information or visit the Skills NSW website eligibility checker.
