CHC43115 Certificate IV in Disability course reflects the role of workers in a range of community settings and clients’ homes, who provide training and support in a manner that empowers people with disabilities to achieve greater levels of independence, self-reliance, community participation and well being. Workers promote a person-centred approach, work without direct supervision and may be required to supervise and/or coordinate a small team.

There are NO previous work or education requirements for entry into this course. Students may enrol directly in the certificate IV level course without completing lower ranked qualifications.

Graduates can expect higher course levels to result in higher potential salary, positions and skill capabilities.

Students must satisfy the following age, English and Academic requirements:

  • Age: must be 17 years or over
  • Undertake Pre-Training Review
  • Undertake LLN and digital numeracy assessment: Learning, reading, writing, oral communication and numeracy (ACSF Level 3) are desirable to participate in the course.
  • Moderate level of computer literacy and has access to a computer/laptop/tablet/smart phone with an internet access

Delivery methods:
The range of delivery methods may include, but not limited to the following:

Delivery Structure:

  • Delivery structure is comprised of classroom training sessions, structured learning such as training support, learning activities, self-paced (to allow the learners to absorb and reflect on their learning), workshops and work placement.
  • The unit of competency will be delivered and assessed as stand-alone unit.

All assessment will be conducted in accordance with the Training Package requirements, Principles of Assessment and Rules of Evidence (https://www.asqa.gov.au/standards/chapter-4/clauses-1.8-1.12)

The purpose of the placement is to provide students with the opportunity to apply the theoretical knowledge gained in the classroom to a practical setting and to develop the necessary skills and attributes to work in the disability sector.

To achieve Certificate IV in Disability qualification the candidate must have completed at least 120 hours of work placement as detailed in the assessment requirements of the units of competency. If a student is unable to find an appropriate work placement, Hammond Institute will assist in finding the work placement.

Able to obtain the following security checks prior to the start of work placement:

  • Valid Police Checks (with no disclosures)
  • Valid Working with the Children Check

It is important for students to remember that the placement component of the course is an integral part of their learning journey and will provide valuable experience and networking opportunities in the disability sector.

The CHC43115 Certificate IV in Disability requires 14 units of Competency.
11 core units and 3 elective units.
